Stadium Safety and Rescue Training   iCal entry for this event

This Safety course will run over two nights, Wednesday the 23rd April and Wednesday the 30th April, 18:30-20:30 both evenings.

You will be required to get in the water multiple times over the two hours. Please wear appropriate clothing (dry suit or wetsuit). If you are not able to find anything please email jake.brown@paddleuk.org.uk and we will see what we can find.

You must attend and successfully pass both evenings in order to receive your certificate.

This course will be run by John Halden of https://paddlesportscoaching.co.uk/

The objective is to provide underpinning knowledge and introduce simple and safe practical skills that can be applied appropriately, improving an individual’s awareness of the risks and safety skills required in an artificial, white water environment. The four-hour training course will teach Shout, Reach and Throw line techniques, introduce candidates to swim safely in an artificial, white water environment and outline basic rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others.

Why do stadium safety? well, for one you could help us at the club facilitate sessions reducing the chance of cancellations, if we have a low number of coaches we need extra eyes on paddlers for the sessions to run, ultimately creating a safer session for all involved (coaches and paddlers). You can have some peace of mind when travelling to various sites and spectating your child with the knowledge that you can step in to help if necessary.

For paddlers, stadium safety could be the first step for us allowing you to run sessions for the club, this paired with a core coach course which Jon Males runs would be enough for you to get more involved without the need to be shadowed.
