River Wye 100 KM Paddle 2025   iCal entry for this event

In 2025 we are planning to run a repeat of the River Wye multi-day paddle expedition that has been successful in 2023 and 2024.

The river Wye is considered to be one of the finest rivers in the UK. We will paddle for three days, and camp for three nights, taking all our equipment in the Kayaks with us.Each day we will paddle over 30 kilometres. In late summer the river levels will be low, exposing a serious of gentle rapids but we will still receive a little assistance from flow. On the last day we will pass through the famous Symonds Yat Rapid.

This the absolute classic "touring trip" in England and Wales. The rapids are gentle and forgiving. It is easy to see participants improve, both in terms of stroke efficiency (due to the distance) and technique (due to the need to regularly manoeuvre through shallow moving water).

We normally take 6-7 persons on the trip, using long touring kayaks only. This year, we are thinking about taking a second group paddling 2 person open canoes. Club equipment is available for hire on a first come first served basis.

We intend to hold the trip 04-07 Sep 2025:

  • Thursday 4th Sept Travel to Wye Valley camp overnight at Byecross Farm near Monington Falls
  • Friday Paddle Day 1 Paddle through Hereford, Camp at Lucksall
  • Saturday Paddle Day 2 Paddle to Ross Camp at Boat Club
  • Sunday Paddle Day 3 Paddle through Symonds Yat =>Travel Home

In order to be an effective member of the team you should be capable of paddling 23KM+ on still water in about 6 hours.
