Youth Double Hander Sailing Course (RYA Stage 4)   iCal entry for this event

A 10 week course on a Wednesday evening for sailors probably in their second or third season, who want to sail double handers develop their skills and progress to Race Training on a Thursday evening and join in Club Racing.

 

The Youth Sailing scheme is usually completed in small dinghies suitable for the size of the sailor, but courses can also be completed in keelboats and multihulls. Our expert instructors offer a safe environment for children to have fun, learn and challenge themselves.

Youth Sailing Scheme - Start Sailing Stage 4

 

Learn how to sail a double-handed boat as crew or helm and solve a variety of problems afloat

 

Required experience : Sailing skills to the standard of Stage 3

 

Minimum duration: Approximately 2 days, 16 hours or equivalent number of sessions

 

Minimum age: 8

 

Content: Transferring pre-learnt skills, techniques and manoeuvres to sail crewed boats, enhance rigging, launching, recovery and practical skills to recover a man overboard.

 

Certificate issuing criteria: Can sail a double-handed boat on all points of sail. Launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring in moderate conditions.
