Youth Racing Course (RYA Start Racing & RYA Club Racing)   iCal entry for this event

On an evening for sailors who have achieved RYA Stage 3 and developed their skills and confidence, are able to join in the racing with other sailors in various classes of boats if they wish. Dates and number of sessions to be confirmed.


Sailors will be coached as they participate in the race training.


There may also be other dates and times arranged throughout the season.


Participants should be well equipped to participate in other Club races and events at weekends and throughout the year. A full race schedule is published on the Web Site Event Calendar

 

Participants are actively encouraged to come and also join in Thursday and Saturday Club Racing.

Youth Sailing Scheme - Start Racing

 

Sailing and knowledge to at least the standard of the Level 2 course or Stage 3 in the Youth Sailing Scheme

 

Required experience : Sailing and knowledge to at least the standard of the Stage 3 or Level 2

 

Minimum duration: Approximately 2 days, 16 hours or equivalent number of sessions

 

Minimum age: 8

 

Content: All the skills required to start club racing, including how to maximise boat speed and outwit your opponents

 

Certificate issuing criteria: Able to take part in club racing in good conditions

 

Format: Afloat with theory

Youth Sailing Scheme - Club Racing

 

Improve you racing technique and knowledge for racing at club level, building on boat handling and speed, as well as starting to build the knowledge required to develop a strategy based on the conditions.

 

Required experience : RYA Start Racing or to the level of.

 

Minimum duration: Approximately 2 days, 16 hours or equivalent number of sessions

 

Minimum age: 8

 

Content: A course designed to build on current basic racing skills, helping to improve the key principles of Line bias and the first beat; stopping and hovering; Roll tacks and gybes; adapting the rig and sail settings

 

Certificate issuing criteria: Evidence of improvement of core racing skills reflecting in the enjoyment in a club racing environment.
