Parking:
There is on-site parking (pay and display) and advise using the beach area (see map) for ease of getting craft to the water.
Timings:
09:00 -17:00.
Lunch:
Please note, lunch, tea and coffee are not provided, there is, however, an on-site café open from 09:00 to 16:00
Equipment:
Please bring along the craft of your choice and all your paddling kit and clothing including a helmet. Please ensure that any personal equipment meets CE safety standards (this will be checked by the course provider). If you need to borrow anything, there is a variety of craft and equipment available at the venue.
Clothing:
Most of the course is spent on and in the water, so please dress appropriately for this. We do have some availability for loaning dry suits, please inform in advance if you require this service.
Changing Rooms:
There are changing rooms with lockers and showers available on-site.
Medication:
Please bring along any personal medication required. Any emergency medication such as asthma pumps and epi-pens should be carried on your person while on the water in a suitable watertight container.
Junior Participants:
All juniors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is also attending the course.
Animals:
Please do not bring any animals with you to the course, except for guide/assistance dogs.
Course outline:
The Paddlesport Instructor Award enables you to provide taster/introductory sessions in a very sheltered water environment to paddlers under the supporting structure of a club or organisation. You can select the craft of your choice from which to complete the course (kayak, canoe sit-on-top, paddleboard).
The content covers:
- Kitting up
- Getting afloat
- Familiarisation activities
- Games and activities to support learning
- Using mini journeys to support, inspire and explore
Throughout the 2-day course learners are required to demonstrate knowledge and skills over three areas:
- Professional standards
- Personal paddling skills
- Rescue Skills
The course will be delivered through classroom. Boat store, land and water-based sessions.

Paddlesport Instructor Level 1
Prerequisites:
All participants MUST have current Paddle UK membership, have completed a Paddlesport Safety Rescue Course or Foundation Safety Training Course and have the certificated uploaded to their credentials in their member profile.
Registration:
All participants MUST complete the learner registration process and pay a £48 fee in advance of the start of the course. Please see link for supporting video for this process.

Cancellation:
Please be aware that the course may be cancelled/rescheduled or curtailed for safety reasons due to adverse weather conditions e.g., high winds, thunderstorms.
Courses will be cancelled/rescheduled due to insufficient numbers.
