2026 Dragonboat Sunday (Social paddling)

Want to have a go at one of the fastest growing sports worldwide? Then this session is for you!
If you are aged over 16 years old and are interested in Dragonboat paddling come along and give it a go, you'll make new friends, gain new skills and have a whole lot of fun - no experience necessary.
We meet at 11:00am to be on the water for around 11:30am.
Please wear sports wear and windproof jacket (no denim) and bring a drink for the boat
"Dragon Boating is an ‘Assumed Risk Water Contact Sport that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks; be responsible for their own actions and involvement; and fully understand that they have a duty of care towards other participants in the sport".
Whilst some forms of “Paddle Sport” have an inherent risk factor, not all paddle sports are a `risk' activity. Dragon Boat Racing, which normally takes place on placid inland waters has a proven very low risk factor. However, no water-based sport can ever be totally safe.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
As activities resume, we are asking everyone who has contact with the lake water to continue taking some simple precautions:
• Shower as soon as possible after leaving the water.
• Rinse wetsuits, swimming costumes and other equipment thoroughly after use.
• Cover cuts, grazes or broken skin with a waterproof dressing before entering the water.
• Avoid swallowing lake water.
• Wash your hands thoroughly before eating or drinking.
• If you are pregnant or immunocompromised, please consult a medical professional before taking part in activities involving contact with the lake water.
• If you feel unwell following contact with the lake, particularly if you experience skin irritation, stomach upset, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache or flu-like symptoms, please seek appropriate medical advice and explain that you have recently been in contact with open water.
IMPORTANT – DOGS
Dogs should continue to be kept out of the lake and must not be allowed to drink the lake water.
