Sailing Refresher Day
These Refresher Sessions are aimed at students who have completed a formal course (usually up to level 2) and haven't spent much time on the water sailing, or want to improve their dinghy sailing skills.
The session is tailored to the needs of the group but in most cases it will cover rigging and launching, then sailing a triangle with good use of the 5 essentials. Therefore this is NOT for Beginners.
Adults sessions are for ages 16+ and will be run from 10:00 to 15:00, in groups of up to 6-8 people. The focus will be on rigging and essential sailing techniques with an aim to achieve independent sailing by the end of the day.
Junior sessions are for those under 16 and are 2 hours long in groups of up to 6 children. The session will usually be in Funboats and will cover rigging and launching and practice sailing techniques to build confidence.
(Private tuition days or sessions are available instead of a group setting. Please email us to enquire on available dates.)
We will provide each person with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, and helmet (optional for adults).
What you need to bring:
- Swim wear for underneath the wet suit
- Footwear that will get wet, such as trainers, or wet suit shoes are available to purchase from the shop
- Hat (sunhat for shade protection or a winter hat for warmth) / gloves
- Towel
- Sun cream and sun glasses are recommended throughout the year
- Packed lunch & drinks for full day events (the onsite café is open at weekends)
Shower facilities, changing rooms and lockers (require a returnable £1 coin) are available.
