RYA Powerboat level 1 and 2
The RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 is a 2 day course covering the essentials of power boating.
Including the use and handling of tiller and console (steering wheel) RIBs.
Suitable for those with no powerboat experience or those needing to gain a qualification.
The course covers a number of aspects including:
- Launching and recovery
- Boat handling
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard
- Coastal aspects (tides, buoyage)
- Planing manoeuvres
There is no exam, passing is based on continual assessment by the instructor.
What we provide:
- RYA start power boating book (and certificate where applicable)
- Buoyancy aid
What you need to provide:
- Suitable shoes (e.g. wellies)
- Towel.
- Full waterproofs and weather specific clothing e.g. hats / gloves
- Lunch
- £1 for lockers (returnable)
- Passport sized photo
Notes:
- Pre-course information will be sent out approximately 7 days before the course start date
- Club membership is not required
- A minimum number of students may apply to each course
- Students must be aged 12+
- Students under 16 must have a parent/guardian also booked on the course
ICC (International Certificate of Competency):
If you wish to operate or charter a powerboat outside of the UK then you will need to apply for an ICC once you have completed your course. Application is via the RYA website and fees may apply. You will need to submit your PB2 photo licence and other documents may be required e.g. passport. The RYA website also has lots of information about the requirements for different countries. Please note that chartering requirements can also vary between companies/centres.

ANPR Monitoring (parking)
The site is now monitored by ANPR cameras but Sailing Club members, students and guests are exempt by following the procedure below...
- Parking is only in the lower car park only, first on your right sign posted 'Sailing Club' and 'Draycote Water Sailing Club'
- Each day of your course or visit you need to regiter your number plate by using a tablet.
- There will be tablet consoles for you to enter your registration plate in the upstairs foyer by the office, next to the signing-on sheets(lower door) and inside the waterside reception.
- You can register at any point during your visit.
