May Half Term Junior Training
May Half Term: Junior Training
Dates: 28th, 29th and 30th May, 2025
Times: 10am until 3pm
*NEW FOR 2025*
We are pleased to be able to offer three days of junior training over the May half term holiday. We are offering a combination of both RYA training and non-RYA courses, with a number of different groups available. These sessions will be run by RYA qualified instructors.
The following groups are being offered:
Water Rats This half term Water Rats is open to some of our younger members! Those are 6+ are welcome to come and have their first experience of sailing and watersports fun at NBYC. Designed for confidence building and fun on the water, the Water Rats will do some sailing, paddling and have lots of fun in the safe confines of the broad. Please note this is not an RYA course.
Stage 1 & 2 For those with little or no sailing experience, age 8+ through to those who have completed their Stage 1 and are working towards their Stage 2. This course will offer participants the opportunity to work on their sailing skills, with instructors pitching skills and lessons to meet the needs of the group. Those without an RYA logbook will be given one, and students will be able to get items ticked off towards their stages. Please be aware that whilst it will theoretically be possible to complete a stage over these three short days, it is very probable that students will not manage to get all elements of the syllabus ticked off and will need to complete the stage at a later date.
Fun in Fevas (Stage 3+) Suitable for anybody who has completed their Stage 3, and would like to have fun in RS Fevas. You do not have to have completed your Stage 4 to participate. We will pitch the syllabus to the strengths and experience of the group, with a variety of skills being offered. Please note this is not an RYA course.
Students are very welcome to use their own boats. However, if you do not have your own boat, you are welcome to borrow one from NBYC (included in the cost of the course).
If you have any queries regarding the course, please email chiefinstructor@nbyc.co.uk
Food
The galley will be open for the duration of the course, and lunch is available to pre-book for attendees. We would recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment. The cost for the three days is £22.
