River Ure, North Yorkshire
What3words: buzzards.parade.rhino
Our site is based on the banks of the Rive Ure. The site was used during the WWII as an army preparation base in support of the D-Day landings. Its called the Army Bridging Camp as the army practiced creating bridges across the river Ure in preparation for cross in the Rhine.
The site is set in a large clearing surrounded by beautiful woodland with good views to Newby Hall.
This is a part of the country with outstanding natural beauty and many good rivers and paddling opportunities. The site has excellent access from the A1(M) at Boroughbridge, which is 5 miles (10 minutes) away.
Join us on the River Ure
Under an hour from the Canoefest site we have several classic sections of the Tees, the Ure, and the Swale.
The Tees Barrage White Water site is only 45 minutes away. And there are many other attractions for non-paddlers, Newby Hall, York and Ripon.
A three day event with a big activity programme!
Our event programme is in development but we can promise skills workshops and guided trips, and adventures.
We will also have bushcraft and camp cooking demonstrations.
With traders stands, coaches on hand, and boat demos to try out, you can pick up new skills and kit, whilst gaining experience of classic and the latest canoes.
What a weekend we have in store!
Catering
