Wye Weekend 2026; 9-11 October 2026
We will have 2 days paddling down the River Wye, with self-catered camping at The River Wye campsite in Glasbury.
For a number of years now accessing the river at Glasbury has been difficult and this site allows us to get on there and paddle a piece of the river that we have not had a chance to do as the OCA for a couple of years. It is a great stretch of the river to explore and can be more spritely and need a bit more boat control than the sections from Whitney down, depending on water levels.
On the campsite, fires are allowed, subject to a few rules and dogs are welcome but need to remain on leads. The site accomodates tents and camper vans.
We'll all arrive on Friday night and set up camp. Early Saturday we'll gather and shuttle, rinse and repeat on Sunday. There are a few local options on this river, depending on levels, leaders and paddlers.
Saturday night you have the option of catering for yourself onsite or heading to a local hostelry for sustnance.
This is a family friendly trip so expect there to be break stops, and fun. We may run different distance trips if there is a definite split between 'play' and 'paddle' groups.
As well as your usual paddling equipment (including a PFD and helmet), you'll need to be catering for yourself for all your meals, as well as bringing suitable camping gear for early October. Flotation in boats is advised and we ask you to look at the equipment guide in advance.
