Conversations in Diplomacy - HE Jane Marriott CMG OBE, British High Commissioner to Pakistan   iCal entry for this event

Dear Members,

The Pakistan Society and Chair Maj Gen (Rtd) Seumas Kerr are delighted to announce that Her Excellency Jane Marriott CMG OBE, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, will be joining us as a distinguished speaker.

As part of our new series of conversations examining issues of contemporary importance to Pakistan and its international relationships, Her Excellency will offer her perspectives on Pakistan’s role in today’s world. She will explore the country’s strategic significance, evolving international partnerships, economic prospects, and its position within an increasingly interconnected global landscape.

This promises to be a fascinating and timely discussion, offering members and guests a unique opportunity to hear from one of the United Kingdom’s most senior diplomats and a close observer of Pakistan’s contemporary affairs.

As the first female British High Commissioner to Pakistan, she has become a prominent advocate for strengthening UK–Pakistan relations, promoting climate action, supporting women’s empowerment, and fostering greater collaboration between the two countries. Her insights and experience will be of particular interest to members of the British Pakistani community, whose contributions continue to strengthen the enduring ties between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.

Jane was previously British High Commissioner to Kenya, British Ambassador to Yemen, Director of the UK’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Deputy and Acting Ambassador to Iran. She has additionally served in Iraq and Afghanistan, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to diplomacy, peace building, and international security.

Jane Marriott’s contributions have been recognised through some of the United Kingdom’s highest honours. She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services in Iraq and later awarded Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for her outstanding contribution to British foreign policy.

We look forward to welcoming members to what promises to be an engaging and insightful discussion with one of the UK’s most distinguished diplomats.
