River Dart Canoe trip Oct.
Sunday 25th October Open Canoe River Dart trip - probably Lower and/or Lower Lower. Section will be dependant upon river levels and group. For those of you who responded to the recent WhatsApp Poll, this Sunday trip is the only Dart trip this weekend - ie not a Sat trip (fewer takers for Sat). If you are not on the WhatsApp group, and would like to be, just let me know and you will be included. This is definitely NOT a clique group!
Our first trip back onto the good old Dart this season. Ideal for canoe paddlers wanting to get back onto moving water and brush up some skills.
Suitability for this trip - solo canoe paddlers who are at or above Explore level, have experienced moving water, have been involved in rescues and being rescued from a capsized canoe within 12 months, and want to progress to Grade 1/2 rivers. (Ditto for regular tandem paddlers, inc rescue/d requirements). If in doubt, please get in touch. Also get in touch if no spaces available - I will sort a waiting list or increase numbers.
Meeting point will be at approximately 09.00 at our chosen launch point on the day, so either Holne Bridge or Austins Bridge - tbd closer to the date, when river levels and rainfall are known. We will be off the water by 4.00pm latest. You will need all your own kit and be able to transport it to the Dart, or car share, or hire a Club boat - but still will need transport. You also need a helmet, adequate boat buoyancy, and a throw line, and any other safety kit you may own. [You may already do this, but in case not, it is useful to have in your easy access kit, a smallish (ie 'bottom-sized'! ) piece of Karrimat or other non-absorbent pad (I use a section of padding from an old buoyancy aid) to use as a seat for snack breaks. Apart from the comfort (and warmth) it'll reduce the risk of punctures to your costly dry suit]
