RYA Safety Boat Courses - 2026
This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers, or canoes & kayaks for racing or training activities. This highly practical course looks at good practice and safe & efficient rescue techniques.
Course Content: Preparation, boat handling, dinghy rescue, windsurfer rescue, kayak or canoe rescue, towing, end-of-day procedures, safety, suitability of craft, local factors, communication, rescueing other water users. After the course you should be able to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing or windsurfing.
Phoenix Outdoor Centre is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and works to a coaching ratio of 1:6 maximum on Safety Boat Courses.
Minimum requirements:
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 minimum
- Basic knowledge of sailing/windsurfing activities
- Age 16 +

Duration: 2 Days - 9:30 - 17:30
Price: £320 - Includes all RYA Safety Boat certification and registration, discounts available for WHSA Member Clubs.
Cancellation policy:
We reserve the right to retain your payment in full or in part, in the case of non-attendance or in the event of a cancellation with less than 14 days-notice. Activities can be affected by severe weather conditions. If Phoenix Canoe Club or Outdoor Centre has to cancel your session due to the weather conditions or for any other reason, we will offer you a full refund or reschedule your booking.
