Location: Breakwater Beach, Brixham

Brixham Gig Rowing Club is delighted to be hosting the 2026 Vets Championships which

will take place at the Breakwater Beach, Brixham, Devon on Saturday 18th July.

The Vets Championships will be run under CPGA 2026 Racing Rules. The format will provide

two races for all crews with timed first round heats followed by group finals. The draw for

the first round will be published prior to the event.

Categories for racing (as per CPGA 2026 Racing Rules) include:

Open Vets

Women’s Vets

Itinerary:

07.30 / 09.00 - Gigs arrive

09.30 - Coxes meeting, with racing commencing immediately afterwards

17.30 - Presentation

All rowers must:

Be aged 40 or over on the day of the event

All participants (including coxswains must):

Be a GigRower member and present their registration number

Be members of your club, composite crews are not permitted.

All crews must:

consist of the same 6 rowers throughout the competition.

have a coxswain with a minimum of two years experience.

provide their own oars, spare pins and a working VHF radio.

In order to run this event, participating clubs will be required to put forward a loan gig for

the championship, with cushions and pins. Failure to offer or provide a gig on request may

result in your entry being declined. All gigs loaned must be seaworthy.

Free parking will be provided for trailers and towing vehicles. Gigs will need to arrive at

the Breakwater car park between 7.30-9.00, we will provide further instructions once loan

gigs have been selected.

There is a non-refundable entry fee of £40 per crew to help with costs of car park closure,

portaloo hire, and other costs.

During the day we will be providing all the usual refreshments and like most clubs will be

attempting to reduce waste so please ask your rowers to bring re-usable cups and bottles

for water and hot drinks. We hope you will also consider coming for our club regatta on

Sunday 19th, please see the separate invitation.
