Mixed Championships 2024   iCal entry for this event

Caradon are again hosting the CPGA Mixed Championships.  It takes part on Saturday 13th July 2024.

The event will be run from Jubilee/Brunel Green on the Saltash Waterside and we will be racing up river (towards the Tavy). The Green provides a fantastic vantage point for the racing and enables us to have quick changeovers. This year’s event will once again be run alongside Saltash Regatta, so there will be plenty to keep you entertained between racing.

The Mixed Championships will be run under CPGA 2024 Racing Rules.

The cox’s meeting will be held at 8.30am with the first race due off at 9.00am. We appreciate that some of you may be travelling a long distance, but all coxes must attend the cox's briefing and register their crews.

Categories for the Championships include:
  • Mixed Juniors - Under 16 category, as per CPGA 2024 Race Rules (3 open / 3 girls)
  • Mixed Senior - Over 16 years on the day of the event (3 open / 3 women)
  • Mixed Veterans - Over 40 years on the day of the event (3 open / 3 women)
  • Mixed Super Vets - Over 50 years on the day of the event (3 open / 3 women)
Rowers must:
  • Be members of a club - no composite crews are permitted
  • Be a GigRower member

The non-refundable entry fee of £25 per crew is set by and received by the club to go towards the overheads and expenses required to run the event.

In order to run this event, participating clubs will be required to put forward a loan gig for the championship.  Failure to offer or provide a gig requested may result in your entry being declined. All gigs loaned must be seaworthy. All clubs loaning gigs will be offered a contribution towards towing expenses. Gigs are loaned in good faith and therefore all coxswains should have a good level of competence (no novice coxswains please).

Cushions and pins will be provided in each gig, but each crew will need to provide their own oars and a working VHF radio. YOU MUST BRING ENOUGH OARS FOR ALL OF YOUR CREWS AND WE STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU DO NOT ROW OR COX IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY. There may well be crossovers between categories and racing will not be paused for you or your oars if you/they are out in a heat already on the water.

Crews must be the same 6 rowers – there cannot be a rotation of rowers within a squad. Due to the nature of the running of the event, a change of coxswain will be permitted, if necessary. All coxswain changes must be reported to the registration desk.

Anticipated race order and first draws will be published as soon as possible following the close of entries.
