Welcome to St Andrew Boat Club

Welcome to the "WebCollect" site for St Andrew Boat Club.

St Andrew Boat Club provides a structure for rowers and scullers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport, as reflected in our motto 'Rowing for All'.

Our boat club is the oldest open amateur rowing club in Scotland – founded on 24 April 1846, we celebrated 175 years in 2021 - and the sixth oldest in the United Kingdom. Based in Meggetland close to the city centre, our home water is an accessible 1500m stretch of the Union Canal.

St Andrew has produced many international rowers, most notably Dame Katherine Grainger, who named St Andrew as her club in the four Olympics in which she competed. There has also been representation at the 1958 Empire Games, the 1964 and 1986 Commonwealth Games and recently one of our junior athletes was selected to row for Great Britain at the Coupe de Jeunesse.  Our Junior section has developed many successful athletes over the past decade, with many gaining representation for Scotland at the Home International Regatta.

The club now has a large diverse active membership with an age range of 12 to 80.
