Club Paddle River Tees - Tees Barrage to Preston Park
A gentle summer paddle suitable for all paddlers with a minimum level of Paddle Discover. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice river manoeuvres on this interesting stretch of water. We will paddle from the Tees Barrage Slipway upstream towards Preston Park and Yarm. The paddle goes through the industrial areas of Stockton-on-Tees before enjoying the open countryside towards Yarm.
We will paddle for around 2 hours before finding an appropriate place to get out and have a packed lunch/refreshment break. The return journey will retrace our route back to the Tees Barrage slipway.
Flexible distance depending on group and craft being used: short boats, SOT’s, open canoes and SUP’s may be used. Sea kayaks are not recommended for this trip. Planned duration of 4 Hours. Refreshment break after approx. 2 hours, distance will be determined by the group and craft being used.
If river levels are above normal on the day, an alternative paddle plan may be offered at Wykeham Lake or other venue.
