Back to 'schooling' flatwork with Liza Faircloth
Flatwork is essential for developing a horse’s balance, flexibility, and responsiveness. By focusing on movements without jumping, such as circles, transitions, and lateral work, flatwork helps build the horse’s strength and coordination. Regular flatwork enhances a horse’s overall performance, making them more supple and attentive.
Session 1: Using Franklin balls in a flatwork riding lesson is an excellent way to improve your body awareness, posture, and balance. By placing these soft, air-filled shaped balls in specific spots—like under your seatbones, under your arms, or against your thighs—you can interrupt bad habits, release deep tension, and learn to follow the horse's movement more effectively. Following the franklin balls techniques, working on transitions, and other exercises.
