Adult RYA courses. Level 1 & level 2 2025
RYA Dinghy Level 1 Start Sailing / Dinghy Level 2 Basic Skills
For beginners and those who have started dinghy sailing, this is a fantastic opportunity to do 2 days of intensive training and really get your sailing skills going on either an RYA Level 1 course or an RYA Level 2 course.
The course includes theory, land drills and lots of time being coached on the water. It is part of the RYA National Sailing Scheme and successful candidates receive the appropriate certificate on passing.

Course content
CHOOSE EITHER:
RYA Level 1 Start Sailing - A course for beginners. Learn how to sail in all directions and awareness of launching and recovery. By the end of this course you would expect to be able to sail in light winds under supervision. This is a 2 day course.
OR
RYA Level 2 Basic Skills - A course for those who have sailing skills to level 1. You will learn about rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge. By the end of this course you would expect to be able to sail and make decisions in good conditions. This is a 2 day course.
Welsh Harp Sailing Club operates an adaptive teaching policy so if we feel that you are making rapid progress, we will be able to accelerate your learning with more challenging activities to master.
Course costs
£160 for members for a 2 day course
£220 for non-members for a 2 day course.
We offer a £60 discount on membership subscription if non-members decide to join following completion of the course.
