Junior 2 day RYA course - Stage 1 2025  

Learn to sail in the school holidays!!

We run 2 day sailing courses during the school holidays, catering for all abilities and for ages 8 -16 years

We follow the RYA youth syllabus. Sessions are taught by RYA instructors in a fun and supportive environment, through a mixture of formal and informal practical and theory sessions. Our goal is to get the best out of all our students during their time with us and RYA certification is awarded upon successful completion of the syllabus.

Course dates

Stage 1: Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th April

Stage 2: Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th April

Course content 

Choose EITHER

RYA Start Sailing Stage 1: For those with little or no sailing experience. Content: launching and recovery, sailing across the wind, turning around, steering and basic parts of the boat. 

OR

RYA Start Sailing Stage 2 For those with RYA Stage 1 or equivalent. Content: improved sailing skills on all points of sail; tacking, gybing, ropework and collision avoidance.

Welsh Harp Sailing Club operates an adaptive teaching policy so if we feel that you are making rapid progress, we will be able to accelerate your learning with more challenging activities to master.

Course costs

£160 for members for a 2 day course

£220 for non-members for a 2 day course.

We offer a £60 discount on membership subscription if non-members decide to join following completion of the course.
