RYA Youth Stage 1 & Stage 4 Easter course
We follow the RYA Youth syllabus, sessions are taught by RYA Instructors in a fun and supportive environment, through a mixture of formal and informal practical and theory sessions. RYA certification is awarded upon successful completion of the syllabus, and while we cannot guarantee certification, our goal is to get the best out of all our students during their time with us.
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme: RYA Start Sailing Stage 1
A course for complete beginners. Content: Launching and recovery, sailing across the wind, turning around, steering and basic parts of the boat. The aim is that by the end of the course you will be able to sail across the wind, steer and understand the basic principles of sailing
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme: Start Sailing Stage 4
Moving up a level from Stage 3 this course looks at how to sail crewed boats and covers the following subjects: Rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques and manoeuvres in crewed boats, recovering a man overboard.
The course runs from 9am - 4.00pm on both Thursday13th and Friday14th April.
Course content
RYA Stage 1, aimed at beginners and those who are new to sailing this year and this is a fantastic opportunity to do a 2 days of training and really get your sailing skills going, whilst having lots of fun on the water.
RYA Stage 4 - After the course you will be able to launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, and sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions. If you are interested in racing then you should consider joining our Junior Race Development sessions, which meets on a Saturday Afternoons throughout the training season.
