Windsurfing Taster Sessions 2025
Try out the Welsh Harp Sailing Club with a Windsurfing Taster Session, guided by our friendly, RYA-qualified instructors. You can book up to two taster sessions before becoming a member to continue.
Session Dates & Times
- When: Thursday evenings, 8 May – 21 August 2025
- Time: Arrive by 6:00 PM to be changed and ready on the beach by 6:30 PM
- Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours (depending on how busy we are)
Who Can Book
- Adults and Juniors aged 16 and over who can windsurf, along with a Windsurfing parent or guardian member.
- Note - the Windsurfing Team do not Instruct Juniors under 16 years. Attendance of Juniors under 16 years with windsurfing experience will be considered at the discretion of a Senior Instructor, and they must have a Windsurfing parent or guardian with them at all times and themselves be able to windsurf already. How It Works
- Choose up to Two Sessions.
- Current Club members who have not windsurfed at the Club - please book your first 2 sessions.
- Your first session should match your experience level.
- Everyone’s second taster is the same: Second-Session Beginner + Experienced Windsurfing.
- Book and Pay by Bank Transfer or PayPal, up to 48 hrs before the session. Maximum of 2 sessions.
- Receive Email Confirmation with access details once payment is received.
- Please join the waiting list if your preferred date is full — no payment is required. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

Which Session to Book First
1st Taster – Choose One of the Following:
First-Session Beginner Windsurfing
- Suitable for beginners or those still gaining experience
- Includes a land-based introduction to windsurfing
- Followed by instructor-supported practice on the water
- For best results, book your Second session the following week, as the first four sessions build on the last; alternatively, choose any Thursday.
- Available Dates: 22 May, 29 May / 19 June, 26 June / 17 July, 24 July, 31 July 2025
Experienced Windsurfing
- Ideal for those who have completed an RYA Start Windsurfing course
- Or can sail confidently in moderate wind conditions on all points of sail
- Includes a briefing and allocation of appropriate equipment
- Instructor-supervised practice session on the water
- Labelled "Second-Session Beginner + Experienced Windsurfing" below
- Available Dates: Any Thursday from 8 May to 21 August 2025
- Note that - 8th and 15th of May will be supervised sessions only, there will not be any training due to the small team available. Training will start on the 22nd of May.
2nd Taster – Everyone Books This:

What to Bring
- Swimwear
- Footwear suitable for getting wet (wetsuit boots or old trainers) — mandatory
- Towel and shower gel.
What We Provide
- Windsurfing equipment
- Buoyancy aids and wetsuits (available during supervised sessions)
- Hot showers and reasonably priced home-cooked meals in the clubhouse.
Important Notes
- If you can’t attend, please notify us as early as possible so we can offer your space to someone else.
- If we cancel due to poor weather, we will email you and do our best to reschedule.

After 2 Tasters: Become a Member
- To continue windsurfing, join as a Member. You no longer need to book — just turn up and speak to one of the Instructors.
- Taster session fees are deductible from your Membership fee.

For Members (After Joining)
- Attend Thursday sessions without booking
- Introduce yourself to the Senior Instructor on duty for kit allocation
- The final session on 28 August is for Members only.
Windsurfing Check Out
To windsurf independently outside of organised sessions:
- Demonstrate you can windsurf safely, without safety cover in moderate conditions
- Be able to use and store Windsurf equipment properly
- Understand and comply with club rules
- Complete at least 4 training sessions in the same season. This will allow the small team of volunteers to access you under different conditions
- The Check Out process will be conducted by a Senior Instructor during a training session.
