Friday day paddle
These sessions are for beginner club members onwards who would like to get more time practicing on the water in a supervised manor. Craft will be selected on the day based on available coaches, weather conditions and the skills of those attending. Note that you may not be able to go in the craft of your choice.
The sessions are social paddles with limited coaching so they are ideal for beginners. However, please let us know if you are a beginner and keen to attend and we will be able to accommodate you. We normally paddle from the clubbase to Sheepwash bridge, have a break for lunch at the Riverside Cafe, and then paddle back to base. If the weather is good and there is sufficient water we may paddle to the barrage and back.
At the start of the session you will be expected to help carry craft and paddles from the containers and to help return them back to the containers at the end of the session. Helmets and PFDs MUST be worn. Wetsuit or drysuit is recommended in the winter months due to water temperatures being a lot cooler.
boats and club paddle kit can be provided for the session. (bring footwear for on/off the water)
arrive/kitup 11am
on water 1130am
return and off water by 1500pm
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no access to toilets or changing facilities in the Sea Cadet building but there will be at the cafe. Free parking is available at the boat club.
PLEASE NOTE: Sessions will be dependent upon weather conditions. We will post updates on the WPSC Facebook page around 9pm on the Thursday evening if we feel a session needs to be cancelled. Booking fees paid for cancelled sessions will be carried forward.
