PaddleUK SUP Safer Award
Please note that sessions will be run from mid June to the end of July. Attending at least two sessions will qualify participants for the SUP Safer Award. Experienced paddleboarders are welcome to join sessions for skills coaching and to refresh their rescue techniques.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minimum age is 12 years old.

Why take the SUP Safer course?
First of all, this award is all about keeping safe on your SUP in sheltered water venues. So, whether you are paddling with friends or the club, this practical course is packed with safe practical solutions. It doesn’t matter about your age or whether you have limited SUP experience, this course supports your knowledge and raises your awareness of your personal safety.
If you needed any more convincing, the course is completely based around training, raising awareness with no assessment. Structured to support you, our experienced coaches will ensure you have plenty of time practising, as well as understanding how you can develop skills and experience after the course.
The course takes two evening sessions and will cover 4 modules:
- SUP Equipment
- Environment and Weather
- Planning
- Safety on the Water
There will be opportunities to develop and progress your rescue skills and meet like-minded people during the course.
Course Assessment
The SUPSafer Award has no formal assessment. You just need to attend two sessions.
Course Fees
The course fee includes any certification fee payable by the club to PaddleUK. Your award certificate will be issued by PaddleUK.
PLEASE NOTE: Sessions will be dependent upon weather conditions. We will post updates on the WPSC Facebook page around 1pm on the Wednesday afternoon if we feel a session needs to be cancelled. Booking fees paid for cancelled sessions will be carried forward.
