This is a session in which you will work reciprocally with others to develop or improve your water confidence and your roll:
Session Aim: Learning Outcomes:
- Improve technical competence at rolling
- Greater awareness in the water
- Greater awareness of rolling teachnique
- Being able to help others learn
Plan:
- Warm‑up: Regular landing on the beach to take a walk and gain warmth
- Main activities: rescue and roll
- Progressions: Bow presentation rescues – rescues/roll with “hands to hands” assistance – roll with buddy assisting paddle placement and support – extended paddle roll (if required), paddle float roll (if required)
Safety:
- Hazards: Drowning – buoyancy aids worn and each underwater activity with a buddy present to assist if necessary
- Hypothermia – windproof clothing, group shelter and hot drink available on the beach
- Injuries to the head – helmets compulsory
- Emergency plan: Phone on beach
