Introductory Course
The aim of this course is to introduce newcomers to Paddle Sport activities and is suitable for all ages. By the end of the course we hope that you will have learnt how to paddle and be in a position to join the club having had a lot of fun in the process!
We will provide you with the relevant skills to cover safety on the water, use of correct kit, basic forward, backward and turning paddling strokes, demonstration of safety equipment and what to do in the event of a capsize. Courses are run by qualified British Canoeing coaches and includes Temporary Membership and all equipment and drinks for the course.
What to bring:
- Changes of clothes to wear paddling (eg shorts/leggings and tee-shirts NO jeans)
- Towel
- Old thin soled trainers/beach shoes to wear in the boat (NO open toed shoes or ‘Crocs’)
- Packed lunch (hot and cold drinks will be provided)
Addlestone Canoe Club is a charity completely run by volunteers. When you sign up, you will be asked to register and create an account. GoCardless is our payment software and payment will only be taken when a course, event or membership subscription is booked/taken out. Please note this is a one-off payment and will not automatically renew. Please note that there is a £25 admin fee if you change your mind about attending or if you can’t attend anymore.
