RYA Powerboat Level 2
he RYA level 2 powerboat course covers all the basics you need to know for small powerboat handling. It looks at the IRPCS, launch and recovery, choice of boat and engine for purpose, weather, tides, and lots of practical exercises. It’s suitable for complete beginners. There is no requirement to do a RYA level 1 Powerboat course first.
The course takes two days, although a direct assessment option is available for those with sufficient powerboating experience. A direct assessment could be covered in a two hour session. Open to ages 14+.
If the dates don't suit, we may also be able to put on a level 2 powerboat course at other times if we have a minimum of 2 applicants. interested.
For your own comfort it is recommended that you bring a change of clothes and waterproofs. We have buoyancy aids available, and wetsuits, but you will normally be much comfier wearing waterproofs as oppose to wetsuits.
Powerboat level 2 certificates now need to be registered centrally with the RYA, and you will need to bring a passport sized photo with you to go on your certificate.
