River Axe Race 2025
This popular race is an excellent introduction to canoe racing and also provides a challenge for the more experienced paddler. All classes are open to paddlers with disabilities.
The race starts 5 miles south of Axminster at Whitford Bridge M/R 263953. The river Axe twists and winds its way through the Axe Valley for 4 miles before opening out onto the estuary, with a further 1 mile of racing to the finish at Axmouth Harbour (Axe Yacht Club Seaton)
Separate classes and age categories allow for fair competitive racing and there are medals for all classes. Free refreshments are available to all competitors at the end of the race.
Rules for the race are contained in the attached document and must be followed please.
Entry fee is £10.00 (per person) for advance bookings and £15 for entry on the day. U12 category gain half-price entry (£5.00 advance booking, £7.50 on the day). (Class P - Katakanus - are treated as a Doubles Team - £20 advanced or £30 on the day.)
Parking is limited at Whitford, so if you can arrive in time to drop off equipment at Whitford then drive to the end (where there is ample parking in the Yacht Club site) and get a shuttle back, that would be ideal.
If you need to book places in different classes, then chose each type (single, double, etc.) and add to basket in turn - remembering the order you added them (you may need to reload the booking page between each booking). On checkout, it will ask you to fill a form for each entry in the same order as you added them to the basket. At that point you choose which class applied to the place booked. So if I wanted to add one K1 and one Tandem Canoe (C2), I would add to basket 1 single place and then (reload the page and) add to the basket 1 double place - then checkout - then on the first form do a Single K1 entry in Class A, then on the second form do a Doubles C2 Entry in Class F.
