Club Paddle Adventure – Stoke Gabriel to Totnes, River Dart Estuary!
Meet at clubhouse 8:30am and return after 4pm.
Join us for a relaxing and scenic day paddle along the River Dart Estuary, from Stoke Gabriel to Totnes—a perfect trip for a gentle day on the water with great company.
We’ll set off from Stoke Gabriel and enjoy a steady, easy-paced paddle upstream, taking in the peaceful estuary surroundings and beautiful views along the way. After reaching Totnes, we’ll take a well-earned break for lunch and an ice cream before heading back—making this roughly a 10-mile round trip.
This is a gentle paddle, open to both kayaks and tandem canoes, and ideal for building confidence and distance in a supportive group setting.
Getting There
Please be ready to help with transporting boats and driving if you can. If you’re getting a lift, a contribution towards petrol costs will be needed.
What to Bring
Be prepared for a comfortable and enjoyable day:
- Dry bag with lunch, plenty of water, and snacks
- Sun protection (sun cream, hat, sunglasses with strap)
- Waterproof/windproof layers
- Suitable paddling clothing & wet shoes
- PFD (buoyancy aid)
- Spare dry clothes for after
- Any medications and emergency contact details
- A bit of cash for refreshments and fuel sharing
Staying Safe as a Group
We’ll paddle as a group, so please:
- Check in with the leader before launching and after stops
- Stay within sight of a leader at all times
- Only paddle off if agreed with a leader
- Keep an eye on others for signs of fatigue or cold
- Be ready to help—everyone has a role in group safety

Trip details may occasionally change, so keep an eye on the AVCC website or Facebook. Please book early—it’s much easier to cancel later than miss out at the last minute.
