Whitford to Clubhouse Paddle or Estuary Paddle (TBC) ( Likely an Estuary paddle/ Sea Paddle)

Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable paddle along the beautiful River Axe. This is a shorter trip, taking approximately half a day. We will meet at the clubhouse at 9.00 am and generally aim to return by 3.00 pm.
The Whitford route follows the gently meandering River Axe from Whitford Bridge through to Axmouth and onward to the clubhouse, covering around 5 miles. Along the way, you'll experience some gentle moving water, making this a great opportunity to build confidence and develop paddling skills in a supportive environment. It is an ideal stepping stone for anyone interested in progressing to paddling lower-grade rivers, such as the Lower Dart, in the future.
As we move into the autumn and winter months, it is important to dress appropriately, as conditions can be very different from summer paddling. We recommend bringing:
- Warm thermal base layers (top and bottoms)
- A warm mid-layer
- A spare warm top in case you take an unexpected swim
- A woolly hat
- A warm drink and fluids
- Snacks and/or lunch if requested by the trip leader
- Warm, dry clothes to change into after the paddle
Boats will need to be transported to Whitford before the trip. When booking your place, please let us know how many boats and people in total (including yourself) you can transport. As with our summer trips, this helps us organise transport efficiently. There may be a small contribution towards fuel costs, depending on the trip leader.
Boats used ; Canoes or smaller river boats. ( Not sea kayaks unless this turns into an estuary paddle)
As weather conditions and water levels can change quickly at this time of year, please be aware that the trip may need to be altered or cancelled at short notice. We will always do our best to make a decision as early as possible and keep everyone informed.

BOOKINGS WILL CLOSE THE FRIDAY BEFORE AT 6PM
If you book onto any trip and then change you mind, please let the leader know as soon as possible so that we don't expect you to arrive.
