Grants for Long Vacation Projects 2022
The Society will make awards in 2022 to one or more undergraduates at the University of Cambridge whose homes are in Devon, in support of projects at home or abroad. These projects may be, but do not have to be, connected with the student's studies at Cambridge University. We do not give support to undergraduates who are doing paid internships. In 2019 the Society made awards to six undergraduates totalling £1,200 with awards varying between £100 and £300. This varies from year to year according to the applications received and recent years have been more limited because of the limited opportunities for projects.
If you would like to apply for an award please provide the following:
- A brief summary of your project and why you need the money (no more than 600 words).
- A referee (usually a tutor)
The closing date for applications is 20 March 2022.
Those applicants whose projects are considered the most worthwhile will be invited to a buffet dinner in Exeter on 5th April at which they will have the opportunity to present their projects to members of the society before a final decision on grants is made by the end of April. Attendance at this dinner is not mandatory but may well improve your chances of receiving a grant.
To apply, please add this event to your basket, go to checkout and fill in the application form that is presented.
Applicants who are successful will be asked to provide their bank details and funds may be drawn down when it is certain that the project is going ahead.
Successful applicants are required to provide a report on their project. £50 of each award will be held back until the report is received. The reports are provided to the members of the Society for interest and to encourage donations to support future awards, and may be put on the Society's website.
