Our Camp Team are busy planning Senior Camp 2024! Last year's camp was a huge success - everyone had a brilliant time - the children learnt so much, made new friends and had four days of fabulous tuition from our coaches.
Senior Camp is a fully residential camp with 4 days of fun and learning. All meals for the children are provided and hay and stabling for the ponies. Our experienced team is on hand 24/7 to make sure everything runs like clockwork.
You may apply for Camp if you are aged 11 at the start of camp and are a fully paid-up member of the Essex Hunt North Pony Club. The upper age limit to attend camp is for those who are 16yrs and under on 1st Jan 2024. If there are any older members who have recently turned 17 and would like to attend, please contact DC Joanne Haigh.
You must have attended at least three working rallies since 1st August last year, including clinics and evening rallies, so that we know of your capabilities. You must be capable of and prepared to do ALL of your pony care. Your pony must be at least 5 years old, fit, well shod and fully vaccinated against Equine Influenza and Tetanus.
The cost is £450.00 per child. The cost includes your stable, toilets, hay, all meals and snacks, all instruction and evening entertainment. If your pony doesn't eat hay you would need to bring your own forage (e.g. Haylage) and everyone needs to bring their own shavings (No other bedding type).
You will also need to arrange your own sleeping accommodation, be it a tent, horsebox, trailer or caravan.
A note on price: Parents should be aware that we had to heavily subsidise Camp in 2022 to the tune of several thousands of pounds due to low attendance, unexpected last minute withdrawals and increased supplier costs. the cost was increased in 2023 and remains unaltered. The Club plans to continue to subsidise camp modestly (as long as Reserves allow).
We believe that that Camp still represents great value to our members. (A 2 day British Dressage camp is £275!) We offer four and a half days of full board for horse and jockey, with up to four hours per day of valuable riding instruction, organised team activities and serious amounts of fun!
Applications for Senior Camp will be secured on a first come, first served basis and on acceptance of a £150 deposit or the full amount payable via webcollect. Please do not apply if you cannot stay for the whole of camp.
Two further payments will be required of £150, one by by 1st May and the last by 1st June.
There is also, the option to pay in full now.
We do have to make large upfront payments to secure the facilities needed for camp to run. This deposit payment will secure your child's stable for camp. We are bound by our supplier's strict payment terms, therefore, this deposit is non-refundable, unless we can fill your space, and, only in exceptional circumstances will a refund be considered by our DC.
