If you’ve been keeping bees for a while and haven’t yet taken your Basic Assessment then maybe you should be thinking about doing it this year. This assessment is organised nationally by BBKA but the local event is facilitated by LBKA. LBKA needs to arrange the assessors from a list collated by BBKA. Within the apiary, our apiary manager needs to ensure we have enough colonies for the assessment.
The assessment is open to beekeepers who are fully paid up members of LBKA and who have been keeping bees for 12 months or more.
There is a fee payable to BBKA. This assessment is open to Full or Partner members.
A BBKA appointed assessor will observe you individually conducting an inspection and will ask a series of questions about beekeeping. Your reward for passing is a certificate and badge but, most important of all, a renewed confidence in your beekeeping skills.
