Assistant Instructor Course 2026
The Assistant Instructor (AI) course takes you through the basics of how to deliver sessions, under supervision, from the National Sailing Scheme and Youth Sailing Scheme. It is a two-day course, in which you will be taught by an experienced Senior Instructor (usually the Chief Instructor or Principal), and will go through the core skills and abilities we expect at the Lyme Regis Sea School.
The course requires a module as a pre-requisite. This is not optional, it is an RYA requirement. If you do not have a module, you may attend the course but must complete a module prior to receiving your certificate. On successful completion of the course you will receive an AI certificate, valid at Lyme Regis Sea School.
It is possible to attain a module by direct assessment, if you already have the skills required by that module.
