Do you want the skills to stay out of trouble?

Do you want to learn practical solutions if you get into difficulty?

Do you want to learn the tools to solve common paddling issues in a sheltered water environment?

Then the Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is for you!

Your course will support you to explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that provide you with the tools to solve common paddling issues in a sheltered water environment, providing peace of mind when venturing out onto the water.

WHY TAKE THE PADDLESPORT SAFETY AND RESCUE COURSE?

First of all, this award is all about keeping safe on your craft in sheltered water venues, this includes canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards. So, whether you are paddling with friends or your club, this practical course is packed with safe practical solutions. It doesn’t matter about your age or whether you have limited paddling experience, this course supports your knowledge and raises your awareness of your personal safety.

If you needed any more convincing, the course is completely based around training and raising awareness, with no assessment. Structured to support you, our experienced tutors will ensure you have plenty of time practising, as well as understanding how you can develop skills and experience after the course. This award is a pre-requisite of the Paddle UK "Paddlesport Instructor" award.

The course takes around 6 hours (excluding admin, refreshments etc) and will cover 6 modules:

  1. Clothing and Equipment
  2. Safety frameworks
  3. Contact and Towing rescues
  4. Self-rescues
  5. Deep water rescues
  6. Reflection and development

There will be opportunities to develop and progress your rescue skills and meet like-minded people during the course. Many of our course candidates develop long lasting friendships, connections and contacts.

This course is open to anyone of any age over 9. As well as the planned dates below, we can also offer bespoke courses for groups - please enquire on 07837 585798 / phil@phoenixcanoeclub.co.uk
