Three Star Whitewater Kayak   iCal entry for this event

Successful performance at this level indicates that a candidate can consider themselves an intermediate paddler rather than a beginner.  The Three Star paddler will be a competent performer in sheltered to moderate water environments (Grade 2[3]) and have the ability to paddle unsupervised, with similar standard paddlers on sheltered water.

Course Dates for 2017:

  • Course A – Sunday 29th January 2017
  • 3 Star Intro at Phoenix CC  – Open to Club Members only – Registration Fee – £30 for BCU Members / £40 for non-BCU Members.  This introduction covers the flat water parts of the award and includes some theory training on white water paddling.  The cost includes the BC Fee for the award including a card Certificate and registration on the database.  To complete the award you need to book onto white water trips that we are running throughout the year and we would recommend trips to the Derwent, Wye, Dart Loop, Lower Tryweryn and Lee Valley.  When we feel you are at the required standard, we will book an assessment with Canoe England for the next trip you can attend.  The amount of training you require will depend on your current ability and readiness to learn and progress. You will need to be able to roll your kayak as part of the 3 Star assessment.
  • Whitewater Intro – River Derwent – Saturday 1st April 2017 – Cost £35 including transport

Location: Phoenix Canoe Club
