RYA Start Racing
We are going to run the RYA Start Racing course over the first weekend in September. As the title suggests, this course is designed for sailors who would like to improve their boat handling skills and gain confidence to start club racing. The course assumes that trainees will be able to sail competently and have the knowledge and sailing ability to the standard of Level 2 (Stage 3 for under 16s) together with at least one full season’s sailing experience. A significant amount of sailing in single handers will be part of the course.
Course content: Start Racing covers the fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course. You will learn all the skills required to start club racing, including how to maximise boat speed and outwit your opponents! At the end of the course you should be able to take part in club races in favourable conditions.

Assessment: Assessment will be on a continuous basis with students being debriefed at the end of each session.
Inclement weather: In the event of sessions being cancelled due to inclement weather alternative dates will be considered, depending on the availability of students and instructors.
Fees: The course will cost £38, plus £8.74 for the RYA Advanced Sailing Handbook (G12) (which is a necessity unless you already have a copy) and certificates
