RYA Better Sailing Course (Level 2)   iCal entry for this event

Scammonden Water Sailing Club

Sailing Level 2 course.

Course Background

This level 2 course aims to consolidate your basic knowledge of sailing and develop an awareness of safety. By the end of the course you will be capable of sailing a boat without an instructor onboard in light winds. On the RYA Sailing Level 2 course your skills will improve as we introduce you to the five essentials of sailing: balance, trim, centreboard, sail setting and course made good.

Your instructor will take you through how to sail in all directions, teach you how to launch and recover your boat and explain how to recover from capsizing. Short theory sessions on the land will teach you about the basic equipment needed, tides and weather.

The RYA Level two course is aimed at those who have previously completed a Level 1 sailing course and have a basic knowledge of dinghy sailing prior to commencement of the course. By the end of the course, you will be able to sail safely without supervision.

What you will need

On the first day, we would ask if you can arrive at the club by around 9:30am with a view to starting the course from 9:45am.

Our Instructors will provide you with a safety briefing and explain the course content on the morning of the course. We will be ordering and providing you with course work book and certificates on the day.
