RYA Seamanship June-July 2019   iCal entry for this event

The RYA Seamanship Skills Course teaches advanced sailing skills to enhance boat control and be able to handle a wide range of situations afloat. Being able to control the boat effectively also enhances racing skills.   This course will be run by Lesley Kaye

Dates: Saturday 22 June and Sunday 14 July 2019.  You must take part in both days to complete the course. 


Examples of topics included:

  • launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances
  • anchoring
  • rudderless sailing
  • stopping
  • reducing sail
  • recovering a man overboard first time.

Please Note: You will need to practice the skills learned on day 1 before moving onto day 2, hence the gap between sessions.

This course is being run before the annual club Poole weekend (20 & 21 July 2019) to support you sailing on the sea.

Essential previous experience: This is an advanced course and as a minimum you need a season of sailing, be able to safely control the boat without an instructor in it and have achieved RYA Level 2 or equivalent experience
