RYA Safety Boat Courses - 2025  

This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers, or canoes & kayaks for racing or training activities. This highly practical course looks at good practice and safe & efficient rescue techniques.

Course Content Includes: 

• Preparation
• boat handling & positioning
• dinghy rescue techniques
• windsurfer rescue techniques
• kayak or canoe rescue techniques
• towing of various craft
• lee-shore recovery
• end-of-day procedures
• suitability of safety craft
• local factors
• effective communication
• recovering people from the water

 After the course you should be able to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing or windsurfing.

Minimum requirements:

RYA Powerboat Level 2 minimum 

Basic knowledge of sailing/windsurfing activities

Age 16 +

2 Days - 9:30-17:30

2025 Weekends:

5^th – 6^th April

25^th – 26^th October

Cancellation policy:

We reserve the right to retain your payment in full or in part, in the case of non-attendance or in the event of a cancellation with less than 14 days-notice. Activities can be affected by severe weather conditions. If Phoenix Canoe Club or Outdoor Centre has to cancel your session due to the weather conditions or for any other reason, we will offer you a full refund or reschedule your booking.
